Italian language Course for Teacher

This course is aimed at teachers of Italian as a second language who want to include art, culture and gastronomy modules in their professional career in order to enrich the Italian program in their classes.
Lessons are held in the classroom and in the area in the city where the course is held: Modena.
The students will be able to enrich their lexical heritage, grammatical and syntactic structures in the classroom and experiment them in the field with exceptional tourist guides. They will also be protagonists in the creation of art history modules by creating tourist itineraries and programs for educational visits to Italy.
The course includes 20 hours of morning sessions adapted to language skills and needs. In the afternoon, cultural activities, guided tours and scheduled excursions will take place.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Improve oral comprehension: interaction with native speaking teachers will certainly Improve your understanding of both spoken and written Italian.
  • Mastering Italian grammar: from simple to advanced structures for precise and effective communication.
  • Understanding regional realities: Emilia Romagna and its food and wine traditions, the culture and the history of motors: Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini
  • Improve writing skills: practical tips to improve writing fluency Strengthen oral production: through group projects and role plays, participants will strengthen their speaking skills in authentic contexts.
  • Immerse yourself in culture: experiencing real-life language practice in cities like Modena, exploring the richness of Italian traditions and different regional cultures.
Metodology and Assessment

All our courses include an active and participatory methodology. Each phase of the training is focused on achieving the objectives set and participants are constantly encouraged to carry out practical experiences to replicate in the classroom with their students. Our methodology is based above all on communication and practical learning. Throughout the process, digital tools that improve both the understanding and production of texts will provide valid help and support.


For each module, final group work is used which stimulates discussion and creates motivating learning experiences by putting each planned action into a situation.

Pricing

The cost of the course is 450 € and includes lessons, useful material for the course, coffee breaks and city visits. It does not include the Saturday excursion which must be booked at the time of registration
Cancellation can be made without penalty within fifteen days before the start of the session. In case of force majeure (see the cases foreseen by the Erasmus programme) cancellation is also possible on the start day of the course

  • Introduction to "Italian Language of Art" Day 1

    • Reception & Course Presentation: Welcome the participants, outline the course objectives and schedule.
    • Brainstorming Activity: What do you know about Italy and the Emilia Romagna region?
    • Exploring Modena: Projection of images and videos showcasing the city.
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Participant Introductions: Presentation of the participants and their schools.

  • The Alphabet of Art Day 2

    • From Monuments to Grammar: Exploring material and immaterial heritage through language.
    • From A as in Balsamic Vinegar to U as in UNESCO: Presentation of Modena's heritage.
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Itinerary Construction: Planning a route through the medieval city using the presented structures.
    • 3:00-5:00 PM City Tour: Visit to Piazza Grande, Cathedral of Modena, Piazza Roma, Via Farini, Via Emilia, Piazza Mazzini, and Palazzo dei Musei.

  • Discussions and Group Activity Day 3

    • Creating an interactive map of Modena: Using ThingLink to create an interactive visual experience.
    • Reflection on language: Discussion and analysis.
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Presentation of the main monuments: Group work with texts and images.

  • Meeting Day 4

    • Meeting with the Erasmus project managers of the Modena schools: Search for partners for future collaborations

  • Reflection and Future Applications Day 5

    • Creation of a presentation of the city of Modena: Developing a comprehensive overview of Modena.
    • Reflections on language: Discussion and analysis.
    • Group work: Designing an itinerary in Italy for a school trip.
    • Closing session: Reflection on progress and next steps for continuous language learning and application in educational contexts.
    • Certificate of participation: Distribution of certificates.
    • Confirmation of Erasmus+ mobility documents: Finalizing documentation.

  • Excursion to Bologna (optional) Day 6
