Traditions and cultural identity

The course in English is aimed at teachers of foreign languages ​​and literary subjects

The course aims to study the importance of traditions, UNESCO intangible assets, to preserve our cultural identity and enhance European heritage.

There will be a discussion between the participants on the traditions of the individual participating countries with a visit to the museum of popular traditions. Cards will be prepared on the educational use of the material and suggestions collected.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
  • Knowledge of local and European traditions
  • Comparison of the traditions of individual countries
  • Visit to the museum of popular traditions
  • Meeting with teachers and students from local schools
  • Prepare of teaching cards to be used in class with your students
  • Participate in the historic Carnival of Ascoli and dress up in a local group
  • Suggestions among the participants for the creation of an Erasmus project on the theme of cultural, gastronomic, religious and musical traditions
Metodology and Assessment

All our courses include an active and participatory methodology. Each phase of the training is focused on achieving the objectives set and participants are constantly encouraged to carry out practical experiences to replicate in the classroom with their students. Our methodology is based above all on communication and practical learning. Throughout the process, digital tools that improve both the understanding and production of texts will provide valid help and support.


For each module, final group work is used which stimulates discussion and creates motivating learning experiences by putting each planned action into a situation.

Pricing

The cost of the course is 450 € and includes lessons, useful material for the course, coffee breaks and city visits. It does not include the Saturday excursion which must be booked at the time of registration
Cancellation can be made without penalty within fifteen days before the start of the session. In case of force majeure (see the cases foreseen by the Erasmus programme) cancellation is also possible on the start day of the course

  • Presentation of the course with reflection on expectations Day 1

    • Reception & Course Presentation: Welcome the participants, outline the course objectives and schedule.
    • Brainstorming Activity: What do you know about Italy and the Marche region?
    • Exploring Ascoli: presentation of the city with a film of the same.
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Participant Introductions: Presentation of the participants and their cities in a short video/images.

  • Visit to the Museum of Popular Traditions Day 2

    • Meeting with a local expert on the topic of: Cultural Identity and European heritage.
    • Preparation of sheets on the educational use of the topic,: Presentation of Ascoli's heritage.
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Itinerary Construction: Visit to the Pinacoteca of Ascoli.

  • Visit to the Carnival Museum Day 3

    • Meeting with local experts on innovation while respecting tradition
    • workshop on designing a European project on the theme of popular, religious, musical traditions and creative potential of European heritage
    • Coffee Break ☕
    • Presentation of the museum: Group work with texts and images.

  • Meeting Day 4

    • Meeting with local authorities, journalists and bloggers
    • Meeting with local masks, discussion with them, optional participation in the masked parade with the possibility of dressing up in a local group
    • Dinner with specialties of Italian carnival cuisine.

  • Reflection and Future Applications Day 5

    • Distribution of evaluation sheets, data entry on the website page
    • Visit to the Pinacoteca di Ascoli
    • Group work : Designing an itinerary in Italy for a school trip
    • Closing session: Reflection on progress and next steps for continuous application in educational contexts.
    • Certificate of participation: Distribution of certificates.
    • Confirmation of Erasmus+ mobility documents: Finalizing documentation.

  • Possibility of a guided tour of Urbino and Grottammare alto(optional) Day 6
